ATLAN wins on the Rural Route

Long documentary Atlan, produced by the Documentary and Experimental Film Centre (DEFC), and directed by talented Iranian filmmaker Moein Karimoddini has won the Best Documentary award at the 12th Rural Route Film Festival in Long Island, NY.
The 12th annual Rural Route Film Festival is centered around stories of brave youth and their animal friends. The line-up includes a mix of new movies and all-time classics, plus top notch shorts from around the globe.

Features included Yared Zeleke’s Ethiopian-set LAMB, which debuted at Cannes last year; plus New York premieres of German director Veit Helmer’s Little Rascals-inspired FIDDLESTICKS, and Moein Karimoddini’s documentary, ATLAN, about a young Iranian Turkmen horse trainer. Rounding out the line-up were family favorites, THE BLACK STALLION and WHITE MANE.
The film Lamb (Yared Zeleke) won the award for Best Narrative, while the documentary Upcycles (Ariana Gerstein) won the Best Experimental award.
