“Paper Flowers” and “Khalaj Family” Head to Izmir

The short animation "Paper Flowers" and the documentary “Khalaj Family”, produced by Documentary, Experimental and Animation Film Center (DEFC) have been selected to be screened at the competition section of the 8th International Women Filmmakers Festival.

According to the Public Relations department of the Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC), the 8th International Women Filmmakers Festival will be held in Izmir, Turkey. A total of 33 animations, 56 experimental films, 157 short fiction films, 161 documentaries, and 68 feature-length fiction films from 67 countries have been submitted to this festival.

“Paper Flowers” by Ramak Amir has been selected as a finalist in the International Animation Film category, and the documentary "Khalaj Family" by Maryam Elhamian and Mostafa Haji Ghasemi has been chosen as a finalist in the International "Camera Eye" Documentary Film category for the 8th edition of the International Women Filmmakers Festival.

As part of the festival, the "Creating Characters from İzmir Project Development Workshops" will be held, aiming to highlight İzmir's potential in film production and its rich cultural heritage.

The 8th International Women Filmmakers Festival will take place in İzmir from May 5-10, 2025.
