“Granny and Fish” Screening at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival

The short documentary “Granny and Fish” directed by Maria Mavati and Ehsan Farokhi Fard, (Produced by DEFC), will be screened at Hot Docs and It's All True – International Documentary Film Festival.

According to the Public Relations Department of Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC), ‘Granny and Fish’ will be screened in the short film program of the 32nd annual Hot Docs Festival in Canada.
From April 24 to May 4, the 2025 Hot Docs Festival will present 113 documentaries from 47 countries.

This presence is followed by a screening at the 30th edition of It's All True – International Documentary Film Festival in Brazil, taking place from April 3 to 13, 2025, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. 

‘Granny and Fish’ tells the story of an elderly woman living in a drought-ravaged, desolate area near Hamoun Lake. The film was also screened at the 17th Iran International Documentary Film Festival- Cinema Varite, where it was awarded Best Director of Short Documentary and received an Honorary Diploma in the International Short Documentary category. ‘Granny and Fish’ was distributed by the Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC).
