Jung Hanseok new festival director of BIFF revealed new plans and transitions at the 30th edition of the festival.
According to the Public Relations department of the Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC), the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) marks its milestone 30th edition with an increased number of features and expanded screening venues as it debuted as a competitive festival for the first time.
Jung Hanseok, festival director of BIFF, outlined his plans to “Reinvigorate the Ecosystem” of various sections, aiming to bring “life and visibility” to its selection.
He stated that the goal is to program approximately 240 films, an increase from last year's 224, as the festival gradually returns to its pre-pandemic level of around 300 titles. This selection will feature about 10 of the best Asian films produced since 1996, the year BIFF was founded.
