The short animation “My Grandmother Lily” directed by Fatemeh Haghighi, and produced by Documentary, Experimental & Animation Film Center (DEFC) has been selected to compete in the competition section of the 29th International Festival of Animation Films «Animaevka-2026» in Belarus.
As reported by Public Relations Department of Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC), “My Grandmother Lily” is a short-animated film told through the eyes of a young girl as she witnesses the final moments of her grandmother’s life. Blending memory, imagination, and the intimate perspective of childhood, the film explores grief, family, and the emotional complexity of encountering death within the familiar space of home.
Animaevka – International Festival of Animation Films aims to showcase and promote outstanding achievements in animation, fine and applied arts; develop and strengthen international cultural ties; identify and support talented children and young people and nurture their creative abilities; provide opportunities for cultural engagement; and foster aesthetic values in society.
The 29th International Festival of Animation Films «Animaevka», will be held from September 23 to 25, 2026 in Mogilev, Belarus.
