Forced Migration to Screen in Portugal

Bijan Zaman Pira’s new documentary “Forced Migration,” produced by DEFC, has been selected for the international competition section of DO PÃO - International Documentary Film Festival.

As reported by Public Relations Department of Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC), Forced Migration tells the story of nomadic people who, despite the harsh economic conditions in Kurdistan, travel from two other provinces to the region in search of daily wage work. Along the way, they face numerous hardships. Their children are deprived of schooling, and the families endure the many dangers and difficulties they encounter on the roads.

For six days, the festival will bring together documentary films from diverse regions and perspectives, offering audiences a program centered on discovery, reflection, and the shared experience of cinema.

2026 DO PÃO - International Documentary Film Festival will be held from September 18 to 24, 2026 in Albergaria-a-Velha, Portugal.

DEFC’s International Department submitted “Forced Migration” to this festival.
