Spanish jury member of Iran International Documentary Film Festival: Documentary filmmaking is different from journalism, and is rooted solely in reality.
Julio Perez Del Campo, the Spanish film professional, added, “A successful documentary goes beyond a media or news report and uncovers the truth.”
Speaking at the 19th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, he stressed that “Documentary filmmaking is different from journalism, and is rooted solely in reality.”
On participating in the festival as a jury member, he said: “In 2014, I made a film about the Gaza Strip, just at a time when reporters and journalists were not granted access to the region. I was fortunate enough to be able to make the film, and it was quite well-received.
The filmmaker added, “It was after the film was seen that I was invited to the Iran International Documentary Film Festival. The film also won the Goya award in Spain.”
Perez Del Campo described Iranian Cinema as a successful one with many shining figures.
He noted that Majid Majidi’s “Color of Paradise” was an integral film in his life and heavily impacted his worldview.
The 19th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite, took place between December 10th and 16th at Tehran Mellat Cineplex.
